US inbound mail delays

8 posts
I've seen several comments made by members fearing that they mave have been scammed recently. This may be true as let's face it there are scammers everywhere but I would advise caution and patience.

Inbound mail to the USA has been subject to increasingly lengthy delays since late October 2011. I have seen many references by overseas coin dealers alerting their customers to potential delays. The procedures adopted in 2011 included a 4 day holding period and item level screening, as opposed to screening an entire cargo bag. I don't think there are any delays on outbound mail, just incoming.

The good news is that the restrictions are being reviewed and may soon be relaxed following concerns expressed by major shipping customers.

Anyway, I thought I would share the news to allay fears of being scammed and potentially having overseas members' reputation unfairly tarnished because of factors outside of their control. If you are awaiting a package from outside the USA please don't rush to judgement just yet. Words spoken in haste cannot be taken back.

There's definitely nothing wrong with US outgoing mail - just received a superb swap from a certain Floridian in just 6 days!  :)

Hey, well I reckon Napolitano must have taken me off the terrorist watch list because I got the inbound parcel today.

The coins are perfect, just what I was looking for. Thanks for going the extra mile mate, much appreciated. I'll get you a cold Corona when you come to Disneyland.
