Hi to all,

Earlier today I made a topic on the ID forum, and one of my coins was identified as this one, listed as under Kingdom of Kandy.

But I was curious and made a quick search on Wikipedia, and I noticed that my coin is actually from an anterior kingdom (Kingdom of Polonnaruwa), which is not here on this site (but some of their coins are).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we may need to create a new issuer under Sri Lanka. Or rename the current category as Cingalese kingdoms to have both kingdoms as sections of it. Whatever one you consider the best option.

Additional suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for reading.
A Sri Lankan numismatist discussed the topic with me a while back:

And I agree that the current "Kingdom of Kandy" issuer is incorrectly named; it should indeed be "Sinhalese kingdoms" (or possibly Lanka - Medieval or whatever).

Sinhalese kingdoms sounds fine to me.
If it is Sinhalese KingdomS - will it get split more?

Possibly, so if I may suggest my way, renaming the issuer "Lanka - Medieval" (like how we have "Nepal - Medieval" and also like I recommended in my thread that I linked) would be the perfect solution.

That's because it would be a perfect catchall term for coinage from before the Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial periods, as well as not restricting potential future creation of third level issuers under it.
