Idrisid dirham

6 posts
Hello, my name is David and I have some questions about this dirham:
I can read Aissa ibn Idris/ al Muntasir
I am not sure about the date (224AH?) and Aissa/Ali is in the reverse.
It seems to be Idrisid but I can not classify it with reference.
May anybody help? Is it a local coinage? Is it rare?
Thanks!!

Hello. I don't know read Arabic script, but this coin may be from Abbasid Caliphate. Al-muntasir were Calipha in AH 247-248. The other name is the name of Iman
This information from Eustache Idrisites may help to identify the ruler. The reverse seems identical to your reverse. The obverse was not plated in the catalog. The page describing the coin is below.

Thank you very much!!
While your coin is probably from the Ziz ( زيز ) mint, the same central reverse (including the two dots) was struck at the Wazeqqur ( وزقور ) mint in the same year of 229 H, Idrisites #334. The outer ring legend is different. The obverse from both mints is the same except for the mint name.
Thanks!!
