So out of my social distancing boredom, I went metal detecting and in 4 hours found $2.35. I seem to never find any silver, the oldest one was 1965. Was fun though as I usually never find straight up cash, and the best kind of money if FREE money. So a tip is definitely go where kids had Easter eggs hunts, I find rather young change though. One day Im gonna find that jar of war nickels, I swear.

The other item is a copper washer and not sure what the band is yet.
That's actually an above average find in 4 hours of metal detecting, nice! People that never tried it seem to think you find treasure every 5 minute, little do they know you can spend an entire day in the field without anything to show for it. :)
I collect and deal in ancient Roman coin. In case you're looking for affordable ancient coins or need any help with the coins you already have send me a message.
The other item, at the bottom of the image it's the "core" of an harmonica. In the 2 left linear holes you can see a part of the reeds
I kinda want to get into metal detecting but I don’t think I’ll find anything in HK.

Do you have shores there? If yes, maybe you won't find nothing of value but you'll find something: coins, bottle caps, jewels

Hey, I appreciate the identification of the Harmonica core, very cool. Thank you.

You would be surprised, try old school yards. I have even gotten permission when school is out to "rid the playground of metal debris" , I find lots of quarters usually. Also check local laws but plenty of allowances are made for this hobby. I've had luck in the strangest of places. Fishing banks, trails, river beds (mine is water proof), bus stops, old phone booth locations, anywhere change would have been used, county fairgrounds, etc. Hope this helps

Depending on how frequently other people are out there metal detecting, you’d probably find a ton of pocket change on Repulse Bay beach.
So.... when we've moved on from the virus, anyone feel like a blokie long weekend detecting?
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

Here are my finds for the last 2 summers. Everything I find I put in a old tackle box.
Had my best luck at old baseball diamonds.
Phil,I would love to come to FL. but I have a metal detecting,4x4ing the national parks trip, set for out west when all this virus stuff blows over. Ill have to see how things transpire.

WOW, what a stash, man I gotta keep metal detecting, I have a ghost town to visit soon and I plan on digging up the place. Great Job John.

Well, there aren't any written laws about metal detecting here and I don't think a lot of people know about it here either. I've never seen a metal detector up for sale in any of the shops here and neither have I seen anyone detecting along a beach. That's why I'm pretty sure if you were to do so here, the authorities will definitely be suspicious.

Are you sure?
Here in Italy, when the MD was legal, people went hunting with MD early in the morning (and I suppose also in the night) and in remote places not easy to reach.

Im not sure about a great stash, but its amazing how fast it adds up when you keep everything you find(except trash of course) Im taking the 3 grand kids out back this afternoon detecting. Have to go stash a couple pennies for them to find.I would hide quarters ,but I wanna keep it real.
Which ghost town you planning on visiting?

I've found some MD clubs here in my country. Most of them are foreigners and they go to beaches along Sentosa to detect. I guess that makes sense since most locals here do not frequent the beach at all and mostly it's just the tourists that go to these places.
Ghost town, now that's what I'm talking about! I don't get a tingle down my leg about digging up bottle tops among sweaty tourists on the beach. I mean tumbleweeds, sinister banjo players and finding a bag of loot stashed by Jesse James and the Knights of the Golden Circle.

I plan on Sherman, it was settled in 1854 in Keweenaw County. Most of its residents were miners working on the Central Mine. At its height, the town boasted a population in excess of 500 people. It also featured a school, a post office, a church, and a number of general stores and saloons. It was dealt a fatal blow in 1898 when the Central Mine ceased operations. The economy trudged along for a couple of years, but the closure of the town post office in 1906 essentially marked the end of Sherman. Today, a number of its original buildings remain standing, with the town church almost perfectly preserved

there are several others in Michigan:
Mandan / The copper mining town

Nonesuch / The town of Nonesuch was founded just one year after Mandan. From 1867 to 1912, the town's mines produced significant quantities of copper.

The Berlanquette Treasure / In Fayette County, locals still tell the story of Berlanquette. According to legend, Berlanquette was a saloon owner who amassed a small fortune through his saloon and, most probably, some shady dealings on the side. Berlanquette refused to store his money in a bank. Instead, he is said to have buried it in the Sand Bay area. He would return sporadically to withdraw from his fortune, although most agree it was nowhere near depleted by the time of his death. The exact location of Berlanqutte's treasure was known to nobody but the saloon owner himself. It lies waiting to be discovered to this day.

The Lost Treasure of Jennings ( Im going here too)
Treasure hunters in Michigan may also want to take a shot at finding the Lost Treasure of Jennings. It's alleged that a woodcutter by the name of John Larson left Sweden with close to $100,000. His settled in Jennings, where he started a family. Larson's initially blissful existence became one of misery when his wife died and his son went missing. He spent his remaining years alone, mourning the desolation of his family.
Larson died in solitude. The locals who found his body insisted that they were unable to locate his fortune, which he allegedly had converted into gold coins shortly after his arrival in Jennings. Most suspect Larson buried his fortune. All attempts to locate Larson's buried treasure have ended in failure. The search is complicated by the fact that the entire town of Jennings was actually uprooted in the 1920s and moved to another location.
Mostly I find nothing, although the golden pot must to be hidden somewhere waiting to be found.
Despite that the process of being busy with my hobby is enough paid off for me.

PS. Perhaps an unnecessary advice, but I'd like to add: don't forget to ask permission to the local farmer or ruling authority before you start digging.
Cents are money too!
Hi and have a nice day.
So we probably have a large number of coins-in the soil throughout the republic, in forests, fields and around fortifications.

He discovered a golden treasure with a metal search engine 4 days ago.
74 gold coins ,16-17 centuries and besides ours there were also Ottoman. The finder cooperates with the museum -and a reward called the finder awaits him.
