Anyone think there will be coins remembering the coronavirus?
Of course some backwater island or similar will sell the rights to some token mill ... these businesses would commemorate the Chinese rice bag that once toppled over if they could.
It’s already done - China 10 Yuan 2020
Hello,

France has also issued a collectible medal which is a tribute to the heroes of our daily lives mobilized during the health crisis (health system, food system, delivery system...) : HERE

Best regards,

Can't be worse than notorious wallpaper stamp producer Stamperija from Lithuania who do stamps for unstable and poor 3rd world countries like Guinea Bissau, Niger, Sarah Leone, Maldives, Solomon Islands, Ivory Coast etc - they issue pop culture topics and themes and draw everything - so to save copyright costs to groups like the Royals, estates of dead pop and movie stars and American entertainment groups like Disney and Pixar.

Anyway these guys issued stamps celebrating Zika complete with kids with small heads looking happy.

They will issue a f#$%^n of them.

I would imagine, Cuba, some Russian makeupastan, Niue, Guinea or some decrepit 3rd world nation will issue coins no doubt.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Chinese 10 Yuan Corona Virus coin - a gimmicky silver bullion thing.

I would laugh if I heard of a current or former politician here in New Zealand ended up being killed by the coronavirus - as I can't stand the politicians over here in general, as they are so arrogant & so despotic!

Some of them think it is acceptable to play the race card in these very uncertain times of severe stress.

Aidan.

How do the Chinese get the idea to make that thing?
That 'gimmicky silver bullion thing' is shocking. Goodbye indeed.

I appreciated this pun.

In fact, one might say this is some punny money.

Really I think they are great and their prompt actions have saved thousands of lives. As for the economy, we all have to crack a few eggs to get omelettes.

Look at our stats

1469 cases (1122 confirmed, rest probable and some have been removed)

19 deaths - all of elderly people with existing health issues and 15 are from 2 retirement homes that got stuck with Covid 19 by staff members who spread to 90 year olds who were near death anyway. The youngest victim was 63 and super sick, the rest were all 70 -99 years old.

1180 recoveries - one of the highest percentages in the world.

Now compare this to America - nearly 1 million cases, 55,000 dead, many more near it - New York is a death zone and they have a retarded president who denies it exists, then says it will blow away - says retarded things like "People are dying, who have never died before" - uses racism and sexism to attack people, recommends they drink disinfectant and they have the WORST death rates in the world.

Yet our politician are arrogant - I consider your cutting remarks about my Fiji coin essay much more arrogant than anything Jacinda or Dr Bloomfield has said yet. We should be thankful we have them and not Judah Moneykey or Slimon Bridgeless running the show.

New Zealand and Jacinda Ardern are getting mighty praise in this neck of the woods.

That truly is awful. Look at what could have happened over here if the politicians hadn't been "Arrogant and despotic" by comparing our figures with those of Ireland, another Island nation with a similar population.

And the figures are even more widely spaced now, 10 days after this. Ireland now has almost 20,000 cases with 1,159 deaths while New Zealand still sits around 1100 cases and just 19 deaths.
What? Me Worry
Don't worry too much guys

BCNumismatics I suspect is trolling me. I wrote a big essay about Fijian coins over several posts in the Coins of the world part and he accussed me of making 3 mistakes, one was real and I apologised and 2 were words he basically stuck in my mouth.

Never heard back after that, but he had the gall to tell me about which Halfcrowns he thought I should look for in the Additions to your collection April thread, and I clearly told him I already had two, once I corrected him there were other scarce dates too, he ignored that. But no doubt he will come back when I make another error.

My opinion on him is either he has a grudge against me or he is just crying out for attention by deliberately trolling people.

I may sound precious - but I put a lot of heart and soul into the essays on NZ and Fijian coins and to get that snide remark straight off was crest falling. I was not expecting panegyrics, but at least a thank you would be nice. Thank God Johnken changed the subject and praised a coin I showed.

Bascially until BC learns some manners and how to act around grown people - just ignore him like I do (Expecting angry feminist rant, if BC turns out to be a woman).

Back to the subject - Just 2 more cases announced today and the recovery rate is dropping mostly as we have reached a point where cases were already dropping 2 - 3 weeks ago.

It seems that a mild case of Covid 19 does its dash in 2 to 3 weeks and now we have reached the period of 10 - 20 cases aday, recoveries naturally drop too.

The Right wing radio talkback hosts and gutter right wing media host Mike Hosking (Think NZ's answer to Fox News and the Maxim Institute) have galled Dr Blomfield for saying we have eliminated Coronavirus, when we have not - yes the Dr made a mistake, but its hardly worth all the media beat up and foofaraw that has occurred.

These are the challenges of having a left wing government handling a crisis when our media is entirely right wing and critical of every move the government makes. Like BC with me - these guys would complain if given a mountain of diamonds for nothing and one of the diamonds was slightly dull.

As my extremely beautiful and precious daughter is currently in NZ I'm very happy to hear that things are being handled competently, no matter the political stripe of those doing the handling.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

In my view this is not a coin, but a commemorative medal. It cannot be used to buy anything.

$100 seems a bit high for a bit of tat.

What is the "Unoffical White House Gift Shop"? Some guy stood outside by the gate, with a suitcase full of cheap t-shirts, plastic models and now "coins".
Probably owned and run by Trumpco to generate money now his Hotels and resorts are not generating any income.

After all, Trump needs to live after he is turfed out in a few months!:8D

Sometimes I wonder if we even have a God, when Bojo nearly dies and Trump thrives to talk more verbal diaorrhea.

Apparently, the Unofficial White House Gift Shop is run by someone named Tony Giannini in Lancaster, PA. It looks like it was founded back during the Truman Administration.

There are currently no official coins yet that have been issued for the corona virus. The Chinese piece above has been altered and is not an official release.
