Hello all! <:D

I have some news for you since last time! (And it has been quite a time already!)

We have couple of changes in the numista team: (not in alphabetical nor time order)

Euromunt team member rights were removed.

And welcome to Oggy, who joined team as new Forum moderator.

Fluke have became a new referee for Sarawak, Niue, Pitcairn Island, Cayman Islands, Gibraltar. Also replaced someone for British India who asked me to keep his (nick)name under the radar, so if you knew him, praise him privately for the awesome work he did.

geraltttt82 have became a new referee for Polish-Lithuania Commonwealth.

bbybugs have became a new referee for Canada.

Jokinen became a new referee for Italian States.

Peter M. Graham became a new referee for Canadian Provincies.

smy77 and Chillian - referees of Luxembourg and Belgium became referees of each other country to help with translations French x English. I can only applaud to such cooperation.

Andrewdotcoza became also referee of Ethiopia.

DAZAYA became a new referee for Spanish Netherlands and newly created Burgundian Netherlands.

Myeackle became also referee for Burundi, Central African Republic and Nigeria.

AmerSalmeh became also referee for South Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.

CassTaylor has became also referee for Essequibo and Demerara, French cities, Gold Coast, Haiti, Lundy, Nigeria and Ceylon.

Chomp-Master has become referee of Aksum and newly created Ancient Mauretania.

I have also became a referee for Bohemia 0:)

Doc_man have became also referee for Congo - Democratic republic, Biafra, Dahomey and Djibouti.

Druzhynets have replaced Acid Burn as referee of San Marino.

Steve27 have become a referee for Puerto Rico.

We also have several new countries:
  1. Darfur
  2. Mauretania (ancient)
  3. Persian satrapies which replaced Persianate states
  4. While it is not a country, German Notgeld now has it's own section
  5. Burgundian Netherlands

Soon however, much more countries will be included (and counted) as new country structure nears it's creation. See this thread: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic53922.html When I will have more info, I will notify you.

I forgot when I did last count, but here are the stats for last two months (60 days):

2741 new coins added!
3660 if the tokens are included.

Also, I have to praise the croppers, who cropped almost all coin pictures in the catalogue already. Thank you!
If you want to help the in the final run, click here: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic49676.html
If you want to help us by adding some coins, I have prepared the thread for you here: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic54146.html

That would be all! I hope at least someone reads this. :|
Best regards,
Jarek

Congratulations to all the above new appointees and goodbye and thank you to those relinquishing duties. Thanks also, as ever, for the tireless dedication to duty exhibited by Jarcek. You are all that which makes Numista great!
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.

Former coin and banknote catalogue referee.
Congratulations and welcome to all! Numista is the world's best coin collecting site! And it would be even better with banknotes and with portuguese translation :° 8)
Sub Quo Signo Nata Stabit
Thank you to all of you.
It is, what it is, or is it.
- Make app for forum moderator months ago because of spammers/hamster
- Forget about it
- Go inactive/collect less due to illness
- Get email today saying I have a pm from Jarcek
- Read it, and woo.

Way to make me active again Jarcek. It's a conspiracy. :O

I might even buy a coin this week.
Great news all round. A few observations if I may......

It's very reassuring to me that at long last the Numista Team is shedding the rude adolescents who dragged it through the mud. The replacements seem to be of a much higher calibre and I hope the trend continues.

The only bad news is the departure of the British India referee who, in my opinion, set the gold standard for others to follow. No need for me to message him, he is already fully aware of how much I personally appreciated his efforts. Aspiring referees could do no better than to carefully study how the multitude of often confusing varieties have been handled in that section. I hope the good work will continue under the new referee.

I would congratulate Oggy on his appointment but I think we are all aware that particular role is a poisoned chalice, so perhaps condolences would be more fitting. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. It's for him to decide how to carry out those duties but I would like to make a sincere plea for less heavy handed moderation. If someone writes something which is causing them to be ridiculed, leave it up there for the world to see. Letting them live with the consequences of their own stupidity, or bad upbringing, might make them pause and reconsider before hitting the send button. By continually clearing up the mess you ultimately create more work and encourage churlish behavior. I think everyone is tired of seeing interesting discussions consigned to the trash can or edited to the point where they no longer make sense. Ban the consistent offenders, along with the permanently offended types who misuse the "report" function, keep the trash can only for spam and Shamikb type slanders and let the adults converse in peace. Please!

Now that the single obstacle to my active participation has been removed there are a whole lot of projects I'd like to move forward on. I'm not really suited to a referee or admin role (just can't tolerate rudeness or stupidity) but there are areas where I feel I can now make a contribution, particularly the neglected Numisdoc section. It will involve the collaboration of others with particular skills, especially a photographer, but I'll find the right person myself, no worries. For now, can someone tell me who, if anyone, is currently managing that section? I'd hate to waste time on producing high quality pieces if they are just going to sit in a "pending" limbo for eternity.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

If "Limbo" was a name, you would be right. Currently no-one is appointed to oversee Numisdoc, and only Xavier can see in its management. We will be searching for someone who could and like to manage it.

PS: Thank you all for kind words, I like to see work I put into this is not useless. <:D

Please keep me advised re. the Numisdoc editor's role.

What about exonumia? Is there anyone managing this sections? Months passed and none take actions of requests.
I usually do. But I am also leaving behind requests I am unsure of, or require too much time to work on, as I do not have much free time. I can look it through trying to find your request.

This is my request with all the details (including pictures, I know you love them) and there is no rush but I asked in general if someone maintain this section. It's pretty discouraging when you make an effort to bring something good but pass so long to be approved. I know it's also painful for referees to have more work then enough and you have even more duties. Maybe it's more efficient to ask if someone want to take this section.

Great work as usual. Congrats and good luck everyone!

Regarding this, any news about having these sections managed by the country's referee?

Request validated. Hopefully it ended in right section.

Regarding this, any news about having these sections managed by the country's referee? Not much news here. Still just an idea.

sorry not the right place to discuss this; but maybe tokens and exonumia of each country could be listed under them (while also stay where they are), or maybe at least with links of them under the country page? just a suggestion

I'd like to congratulate you and thank you Jarcek, for all your hard work. I love this site and have found it a great help over the months I've been a member. A lot of its excellence is owing to you and your work. Thanks.:)

Not sure exactly who made this medal, I'm still looking for info. Almost sure it's not made in Israel but it's ok there until I can find more about.
I have considered an admin role for the Numisdoc but would prefer to continue to write the WCC topics project that I started more than a year ago and still enjoy doing. I now also have the pleasure to be the referee for Italian States, taking on the challenge of ploughing through Italian sources and trying to create some law & order in this slightly chaotic part of the catalogue. Nthn has been a great sparring partner so far and we are proud to say that there is currently no backlog on requests.

Jarcek you are amazing, no other words to put for this. But could you please spell openness correctly next time B)
Jarcek,

Thank you for all of your initiatives to make Numista a great site. In addition thanks to all who have contributed to these initiatives. Thanks also for all of my many questions that you have answered and the help that you have given me. I don't know how you find time to do it all.
Jokinen please continue your project on WCC. I always enjoy to read them even if I don't reply every time. If you need some docs about anything just let me know, I have a large collection of books (including some Italian states).

Me neither. You might understand now why I pressed for more referees. :°

Excellent news all round. I fully support everything you do Jarcek as you make this website a better place daily.

I'd definitely like to second Phil for being the Numisdoc Editor as i think he'd do a sterling job!

Good luck Oggy on the big job.
I can see my existence coming to a very abrupt end on here if what I have just read is true.
Who in their right mind would appoint such a faux individual as Oggy to the post of Forum Moderator ?
How could I ever respect anything this individual says or does ?
Having first hand experience of the retarded false accusations this individual makes tells me he is neither intelligent nor an adult, his ability to contradict himself is also a point of concern that needs addressing.
I am still trying to figure out how a mature student with a background in sales gets deployed at the drop of a hat yet still maintains his activity in the forum and has plenty of time to buy coins ( open to debate ) all whilst apparently being deployed :wiz:
I could fill several pages.
I deny nothing but doubt everything, opinions are made to be changed, how else is the truth to be gotten at.
Oggy? Seems like a real kosher bloke to me. Are you sure you've got the right guy?

I take great pride in my ability to spot fakes, flakes, crooks, scumbags, arsebags, dirtbags, nutjobs or just plain wankers (usualy long before anyone else catches on - I outed Coinsoldier, CHANGE OF NAME PENDING OK and Shamikb before it became fashionable) but honestly he never caused a blip.

P.S. Off Topic I know - I just bought the most beautiful Prussia 1913 2 Mark coin with the most delicious toning which will be my entry for the MPCC if it ever gets going again. It's the centerpiece of my transient collection and I can't bring myself to move it from my desktop to my album.

Yea, my application was just to clear up the spam etc so Bam could focus his time on more important stuff like swap monitoring etc. Definitely intending to be fairly feather handed. I'm not that active, but if I'm sent a pm I'll always be able to pop in after I get the email notification and sort stuff out.

Ninebob and I just don't get on for some reason. He got pissed off at me for being a 'new member giving an opinion' and then clashed in the thread where I was trying to sell coins when a new member. Happy to post that thread in pm if anybody needs to see it as it was deleted after the arguing. He's got nothing to be paranoid about though, I don't like the guy but respect his contribution.
Hilarious, you don't know why I have issues with you !!!
Its for this exact reason, you would rather lie than tell the truth.
If forced I will explain,
Oggy blatantly ignored rules when trying to sell coins as a new member and when he was chastised instead of apologising he made it worse by acting like a child.
Not satisfied he then decided to accuse me of something that was completely untrue, worst of all he based his accusation on some of my own posts from 10 months ago meaning that he had trawled through my history to find a tale to tell and then still didn't have the intellect to interpret what was written in English in front of him.
I ignored his threads from that point but monitored from a distance, then he decides to troll one of my threads, it began by calling me a Dick then ended with another false accusation.
He selectively chose to leave this information out of his explanation to you all.
I ask of you, Is this the behaviour of a well balanced intelligent adult ?

Most of you know my persona in the forum, it takes someone SPECIAL to make me this angry.

Phil,
I am not outing him as a scammer, I was only giving my personal opinion.
I do however think most of what he posts is bunkum.
I deny nothing but doubt everything, opinions are made to be changed, how else is the truth to be gotten at.
``- I am starting to hope nobody would ever read that post.

You can say what you like about Oggy, but the fact remains that only he has put his hand up for a very difficult job. Sorting out the childish squabbling that seems to be rampant on this site. Why not give him a chance. If you feel he's being unfair or unreasonable in his moderation then send your complaints through to Xavier and Jarcek. Until then, just give him a shot to prove himself.
All that talk about cropping makes me feel guilty about the first few times I uploaded pics on here without doing that beforehand... my bad I guess.
Great job and great report!
JustforFun...
Phil, what about you and me as a team? I am a lousy photographer though, much to the dissatisfaction of my lovely wife, who is a great photographer herself. Unfortunately according to her the only purpose of money is spending it. She takes lovely pictures of our children.
